MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently gain from a 20p differential but that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting the UK sustainable biodiesel .

Mr George stated "a number of small companies in Cornwall presently generate income from utilized cooking oil".

He included: "In order to have the ability to get this kind of market going it does need just a little bit of lift which is available in the type of tax inevitable."

Biodiesel is a blend of standard diesel, rapeseed and vegetable oils.
