The Middle East is an area where automobile is king and fuel is low-cost, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
